What a kitchen remodel with ADS covers

The whole room. That means demolition, layout or wall changes, plumbing and electrical, cabinets, counters and backsplash, flooring, lighting, trim and paint. Our own crew does the work from demo day to the final walkthrough, so you are not lining up a cabinet installer, a plumber and an electrician on your own.

How the job runs

Estimate visit. Brian, the owner, walks the kitchen with you, measures, and talks through what is not working in the current layout. The itemized written estimate usually follows within 48 hours.

Cabinet order. Cabinets are ordered right after you sign, and their delivery sets the demo date. Your kitchen is not torn out while everyone waits on boxes.

Temporary kitchen, then demo. We set you up in another room with the refrigerator, a microwave and a counter to work on. Then the work area is sealed off, the floors are covered and the old kitchen comes out.

Rough-in and inspection. New plumbing, wiring and lighting go in, and the inspector sees them while the walls are still open.

Cabinets, counters, finish. Cabinets are set and leveled, counters are templated on the installed boxes, then come the backsplash, sink and faucet, lighting, trim and paint.

Walkthrough. We go through the room together and close out the punch list. Your 2-year written workmanship warranty starts there.

Timeline and cost

Most kitchens take 6 to 8 weeks from demo to walkthrough and cost $35,000 to $120,000.

The range is wide because a handful of decisions carry most of the cost. The big ones are moving the sink or range away from existing plumbing and gas lines, taking out a wall (an engineer, a beam and a permit come with it), the cabinets and counters you pick, and how far new flooring runs into the rest of the house.

In older homes, what is behind the walls matters too. If demo turns up wiring or plumbing that would not pass inspection, we stop, show you, and price the fix in writing before we do it.

Permits and inspections

We pull the permits from your village or city and schedule every inspection. Review times differ from town to town, and the written schedule accounts for yours.

What to have ready

For the estimate, a rough budget and a few photos of kitchens you like are plenty. Before demo, empty the cabinets and drawers and decide which room becomes the temporary kitchen. If you are keeping any appliances, tell us at the visit.

Kitchens we have built

Modern Elegance Kitchen, Lombard. A small, closed-off kitchen opened to the dining area by removing the wall between them, with marble-look quartz, a full-height slab backsplash and white-oak floors.

Classic Meets Modern, Glen Ellyn. Espresso raised-panel cabinets, an island with seating, a full-height quartz slab behind a professional range with a pot filler, and double wall ovens.
