Does the structure stay?
Capping treads and replacing a railing is a different order of project from opening the risers, changing the run or moving the staircase to another wall. The second one brings in an engineer and a permit.
Staircases, railings and foyers rebuilt into a real arrival moment — structural stair work and custom millwork, all in-house.

A staircase is structure wearing a finish. The stringers, the anchoring and the framing decide whether it is still quiet in ten years, and none of that is visible once the treads go on. We rebuild what is underneath, then our own carpenters design and cut the railing for your stair instead of ordering a kit that almost fits.
Design yours → How we build staircases & foyers →Three quick choices. Two minutes, no commitment — just enough to show us the staircase in your head.
This is a direction, not a quote. We finalize materials together and price it in person, never with a calculator.

A staircase rarely ends at itself. Flooring, trim, lighting and the wall treatment around it decide whether the arrival reads as finished or half-done, and that is a square-footage question.
Code fixes the height and the baluster spacing. Everything else is design, and our carpenters cut it for your stair. That is why no two of our staircases look alike, and why the railing is its own line on the estimate.
Every ADS estimate is itemized in writing for your exact home, within 48 hours of the free visit, so you can see which of these you are paying for.

Other rooms we remodel
The prettiest part of our work is the part you'll never see.
Protective board and runners go down before the first tool comes in, from the entry to the work zone.
Plastic containment walls and sealed vents keep the rest of the house livable during demo and sanding.
One in-house team from demo to final walkthrough. You learn our names, no rotating subcontractors in your home.
Tools stored, site swept, walkways clear. You should never dread coming home during a remodel.
Full licensing and insurance certificates shown before work starts, not after you ask twice.
Brian, the owner, walks every estimate and is on your job. The same small crew comes back each morning, and the number you call reaches a person.
A final walkthrough together, punch list closed out, and a 2-Year Workmanship Warranty in writing.

Plain answers — the kind we'd give a neighbor over coffee, not the ones written for a brochure.
Have a different question? Ask during your free estimate →It depends almost entirely on whether the structure stays. Refinishing treads and replacing a railing is a different order of project from opening the risers, changing the run, or moving the staircase to another wall, which brings in an engineer and a permit. We price it standing on your stairs, and the number is fixed in writing before anyone starts.
A railing and tread update usually runs 1–2 weeks; a full staircase rebuild or relocation 2–4 weeks with engineering and inspection. Written schedule before we start, as always.
Yes — we sequence the work so the staircase is safely usable every evening. If a full rebuild requires a short closure, you'll know the exact days in advance.
Built in-house. Our carpenters design, cut and finish railings to your staircase — geometric oak panels, iron spindles, glass, whatever the design calls for. That's why no two of our staircases look alike.
Yes — squeaks are structure, not age. While the treads are open we re-fasten stringers and subfloor so the staircase is quiet again, and stays that way.
Usually yes. If the framing and stringers are sound, we can cap the existing treads in solid white oak, replace the railing and balusters, and open the risers without touching the structure underneath. We check before we quote it: pull a tread and look. If the framing is sound we tell you, because a refinish and a new rail is the cheaper job and it is the one most houses actually need.
The in-home visit is free, and the detailed estimate that follows is in writing — most homeowners have it within 48 hours.
